Description

If there's one thing I really like, it's the idea that there could be a race that is indigenous to Antarctica (human or alien). So for a little challenge on the forums, I decided to indulge and create a potential candidate for some Antarcticans (though I have other ideas I'd like to explore, as well =w= ).

In the year 202X, scientists noticed seismic activity occuring in the unclaimed region of Antarctica. Sending out some ships to investigate, they noticed a beacon coming from a marker that rose from beneath the ice. They kept an eye on it until figures began to come through the portal. An alien race, known as the Deions, had come to Earth. First contact was a little rough, though they were both able to recognize each other as intelligent species. Soon, the Deions had cracked the language barrier and began to explain that the beacon was a signal. Several million years ago, it had been the Deions that had populated the planet and were the dominant species in much the same way humans were, though they were cast off by an entity. This entity (which had also become part of a primary religion for the Deions) had sent the Deions to exile on Pluto. Acting as a bridge, they could now come back to Earth and resettle. Over the course of 5 years, the Deions were able to settle into life on Earth fairly well and had begun to assimilate into the masses. They had been able to settle Antarctica, which was now a rather friendly country to several nations.

The arrival of the Deions brought many benefits, not the least of which being the groundbreaking technology and intelligent minds the newly dubbed "Antarcticans" had to offer. Not the least of which was a Deion, utilitarian machine known as "The Adaptor." It bore the physiological appearance of the Deions but, according to the Deions, was inspired by the spectacular height of the entity that had exiled the Deions. It was designed to withstand a variety of climates and environments and was able to utilize various mechanisms with it's four hands. From weapons such as guns and swords, to tools ranging from drills, hammers, and other mechanisms. The question came up, though:

Why did the Deion need these tools? Why hadn't they returned to Earth earlier if they were so advanced? Part of that might be answered in religious adherence, due to the entity not wanting the Deion to return until signaled. The other had to do with another entity ... one that had been threatening to wipe Pluto out of existence entirely and was slowly making it's way to all the other planets. And Earth was next on the list, it seemed.

So a little world building practice for today. uwu Never particularly liked the whole, "They're invading, that makes them the bad guy," thing, so I wanted to keep that absent from this (at least for the Deions/Antarticans).
